Yesterday: explored Reykjavik and surrounding shipyards and fjords on foot, ate an amazing vegan meal at Á næstu grösum, drank Icelandic moss tea, then danced all night at the amazing Caribou concert and walked home in the glow of the midnight sun. Today: ate vanilla skyr and 1,000 blueberries for breakfast, crossed the mid-Atlantic volcanic ridge, headed east to Geysir, hiked Gullfoss, stood in the middle of the continental rift valley, hiked Þingvellir, ate rhubarb & date spice cake, and packed my bags. Tomorrow morning I will be a New Yorker. I cannot even describe how amazing this time in Iceland has been. The last few weeks of laughter and goodbyes have been so wonderful and the next few weeks of ecstatic hellos and city rhythm are going to be better than great, but having four days of suspended reality to let the last year’s dream life sink in and solidify, and the future dream life feel more real, were so necessary. Right now I am living an Icelandic dream life. It is magical here, like nowhere else: a lost island full creative beautiful people, volcanos, glaciers, tiny horses, with a puffin population 3.33 times larger than the human population. Being here has been simultaneously still/reflective/dynamic. I can’t believe how lucky I am to have the people that I have in my life. Life is wonderful and always will be. I feel so positive. Some times in France were hard, and I will have some hard ones in New York too. Thats part of it. I just realized that I have been, am, and will be living my dream live. Forever. Life is so beautiful. I love you. Don’t call me a hippy. All gold everything.
